Salvatore Tomaselli was an famous Italian physician. He was a member of the Catania Accademy for the study of natural sciences since 1857 and founded the Medical Clinic at the Vittorio Emanuele Hospital. He contributed to studies on hepatic cirrhosis, malaria and fever in Malta (which he referred to as "suffocal fever"). However, Salvatore Tomaselli's great merit was to introduce the quinine (and his successors ) into malaria therapies (which was awarded Tomaselli's disease in 1874 by the Gioia Academy). - Erstausgabe seiner bedeutendsten Schrift über die Einführung des Chinins in die Malaria-Therapie.
